The domain farms a small parcel of Pinot Noir in the tiny monopole lieu-dit, Clos de Mouches for low, healthy yields. The silky textures and aromatics of this wine are enhanced (but not masked by) a perfect balance of old and new barrels.

About this wine producer: Domaine Henri Germain was established in 1973 when Henri, brother of François Germain of Château de Chorey les Beaune set out on his own. His son Jean-François is now in charge, though Henri continues in the vineyards. Most of the production comes from the premiers crus of Beaune, Meursault and Chassagne-Montrachet, including Beaune Bressandes, Meursault Perrières, and Chassagne-Montrachet les Morgeots. Only a tiny quantity of the white and red Bourgognes are made, both from sites in the commune of Meursault. Farming is natural, and winemaking is traditional. The Germain wines are not usually flashy, but are classic, long distance runners.
