Jake and Catharine Sherry took the events of 2020 very seriously - and deliciously. The husband and wife team not only left Brooklyn for the Catskills when lockdown happened, they put their long-standing dream into action and created the gin for our times. Over the river and through the mountains, in the little town of Bovina, NY, Jake and Sherry—with their friends Sam Blackman and Imogen Crispe—released their Isolation Proof gin in the spring of 2020. In addition to botanicals such as juniper, coriander, licorice root, and orange peel, Isolation Proof also incorporates cubeb, an Indonesian spice related to pepper. This limited edition Summer Gin features Catskills rhubarb, pink peppercorn, and hibiscus alongside its traditional botanicals, yielding a delicate salmon color just right for spring and summer sipping. It opens with lovely aromas of grapefruit, pink peppercorn, wildflowers, and juniper. The palate is driven by cardamom, orange peel, and grapefruit, with a peppery kick returning at the finish. Light, bright, and spicy, this is delicious as a sipping gin, or taking a star turn in cocktails like a French 75, savory martini, or classic gin and tonic.
