Albert Morot Beaune Marconnets 1er Cru 1988
Albert Morot is a 20-acre domaine in Beaune. It was founded by the Morot family as a negociant in 1820 but also became a producer in 1890 with the purchase of vineyards. Today the estate is run by Geoffroy Choppin de Janvry, who inherited it from his uncle. The domaine has Premier Crus in Beaune and Savigny-les-Beaune. Les Marconnets is a 14-acre Premier Cru vineyard in the Beaune appellation, in Burgundy’s Cote de Beaune. The vineyard is located at the northern end of the appellation near the top of a slope. Clive Coates has called the wines of Les Marconnets “fullish, plump and rich.” Les Marconnets is one of 44 Premier Crus in Beaune, which has no Grand Crus.
